Just about the gears?
Might be a stupid question but I will most likely always drive an automatic. I still think this course will be super valuable but what would be the thing I can’t learn about automatics with this course?
Delayed shifting is often caused by valves sticking the valve body, which prevents shifts from happening when they should. On newer cars, which control shifts using a computer, the problem could lie in the shift solenoids that are used to trigger shifts.
Grinding or odd sounds: Automatic and manual transmission both make unique sounds when they start to go bad. On an automatic transmission, you may hear humming, whining or a buzzing sound. You'll also feel as if every gear is wobbling into place.
Performance. When your transmission goes out, your car's handling will be affected. You may experience vibrations, slippage (engine revs but vehicle does not accelerate as it should) or different shift patterns in your vehicle. The gear shift on your car will stop working when the transmission dies.
The most common cause of hard shifts is a low fluid level, so check your fluid level and add BlueDevil Transmission Sealer if it is low. Jerky shifts can also be caused by excessive line pressure due to a clog or malfunctioning shift solenoid.
It may happen when trying to get into first gear from a stop, or at any point up and down the assorted gears. Common causes include low transmission fluid, wrong viscosity (thickness) of fluid, or required adjusting of the shift cables or clutch linkage.
