Usually when the car will 'jerk' when you press the accelerator and lift from the accelerator, it's likely due to clogged fuel injectors, damage to the throttle body or other fuel system components. It could also be due to worn out motor mounts or perhaps a small exhaust leak.

In fact, a blocked fuel filter is the most common cause for a jerking vehicle. Along with jerking, a bad fuel filter will also cause the vehicle to cut out or lose power when driving up an incline. This occurs because fuel demand increases while under load and the clogged filter reduces the flow required.

If it is faulty or if there's a leak somewhere, a pressure is lost, thus causing the car to jerk.A disruption in the flow of fuel from the tank to the engine will cause the car to hesitate during acceleration, which will then cause a jerk. Check for leaks that may have been caused rats chewing off the fuel pipes.

your car suddenly starts giving off vibrations and strange noises like grinding or whining, the transmission is saying, “Drive me to a mechanic.” You'll also experience gears slipping – when the engine speeds up or revs, but your car doesn't accelerate very quickly, or move at all (that's a really bad sign) .
