The Scion xD offers the little intangibles that you just cannot find in any car in its class. You can't go wrong with the Scion xD. This is one of the best cars we've ever owned - fun to drive, economical, lots of room for it's size - overall a wonderful car and great buy. Both cars handle well, even at 60+ mph.

Scion xD. The Scion xD is a five-door subcompact hatchback marketed in the U.S. and Canada by Japanese manufacturer Toyota beginning with the 2008 model year — replacing the xA. The Scion xD was discontinued in 2014, and was succeeded by the Toyota C-HR in 2017.

However, the xD isn't nearly as large as the xB. For about $1500 more the xB offers a lot more car. It is wider, taller, and over a foot longer. That shows up in the interior with the xB having considerably more front shoulder room and more rear headroom.

More than a decade ago, Scion was created to attract young buyers into the Toyota fold with inexpensive small cars and no-haggle pricing.

Most Scion cars have Toyota analogues or use some Toyota platform. larger cars use 1.8-liter Toyota 2ZR. The most powerful engines were 2.4L 2AZ and 2.5L 2AR, which were installed in Scion tC and Scion xB.
